Handbook of Student Regulations

Regulations for Students Enrolling for Academic Year 2022-23

The regulations below will apply to matters arising in and decisions relating to the academic year 2022-23. Upon enrolment, the relevant Handbook is the primary contract between you and the University, so you may wish to download a copy for your records. The University however, updates these regulations from time to time, and the definitive versions of the ‘Handbook of Student Regulations’ appear below. Please ensure you select the correct version, Taught or Research Programmes.

These Handbooks detail the rights and obligations of every student as a member of the University community and explains the rules of conduct to be observed by students. It is therefore important that you familiarise yourself with these regulations along with other official University documents (e.g. other Student Terms and Conduct and Wellbeing Expectations, Assessment Regulations and Guidance, and Programme Handbooks) to ensure you understand what is expected of you and what you can expect from the University.

The summary below is not a complete statement of your rights and responsibilities to the University and the University’s rights and responsibilities to you, but this document provides an overview of the key terms.  You must read all relevant documents provided to you during your studies.

Key Summary of Rights and Responsibilities 2022-23

How do these regulations apply to me (as a student)?

Most of these regulations apply to your life as a student. There are however rare occasions when the University may take action against you for behaviour in your private life or in the wider community, for example, when your behaviour brings the University into disrepute, raises fitness to practise concerns (students on professional programmes only), or indicates you may present a risk to the University community.

How can I navigate these regulations?

The contents of these Handbooks can be easily navigated by using the bookmarks to the left. Alternatively, you can click on the relevant Section or Appendix on the contents page, all of which are hyperlinked. If you are viewing these documents on a mobile device you may lose these functions, unless you have an Adobe App installed.
