Since I graduated as a professional in Advertising and Marketing 11 years ago, my passion for this field started, and after working in different advertising agencies in Colombia for about 6 years, I decided that it was time to go to a higher level so I decided to come to England to study a Masters in Marketing.

What are you doing now?

I´m now finishing a second Masters in Software Development and I'm working in a Digital Marketing Agency in London.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

I liked the curriculum of the program plus there was an opportunity for applying for a scholarship.

What was it like studying at Northumbria?

I really enjoyed studying at Northumbria, the mix of cultures, lectures and projects made my experience unique and very rich.

How connected was your course with industry?

Unfortunately, I did not see the course fully connected with the industry, as there were no guest lectures and the searching from the university for my placement was not successful. However some projects gave me a good understanding of the real life industry in England.

If you took on a placement during your course how did you feel this helped you in your career/ with your studies?

I took a placement and it was very helpful for getting experience into the industry in England. However, I had to find the placement by myself.

What was the best thing about your course?

The people I met and the experience of studying abroad.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

It helped me to get more focus on what I wanted.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

I think that my soft skills and culture awareness improved a lot on this course.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

The different cultures around me.

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

Be open-minded, focus on your goals and always be sure that you can overcome every challenge even when at some point it looks impossible, just keep going and do not give up on your career and goals. There is always people along the way ready to help you and some of them can be at Northumbria.

Rich, inspirational challenge
